Alumni Services Survey Results
The results are in from the 2014 alumni services survey. Back in September, the HSMPAS Executive Committee invited 702 OSU HSMP graduates to participate in a biannual survey. The survey consisted of 28 questions that address the performance of the HSMP Alumni Society. The survey’s primary purpose is to gain a more detailed understanding of how the society can benefit its members and current students. The results are being used to continue to improve the society’s services in the future by understanding the services and support that are valued by the alumni and to learn how to help graduates feel more connected to other alumni and current students. A Note From Our New MHA Program Director
To my fellow alums —
For those of you who don’t know me (yet), I am a two-time HSMP graduate (MHA ’93, PhD ’03) and am now delighted to have the opportunity to serve as MHA Program Director. One of the biggest perks of this job is the opportunity to connect — and reconnect — with so many of you. I could not be more impressed with how much so many of you do to make our program the best it can be.
Many of you have asked what you can do to become more involved in the program. One great way is to host a summer administrative resident in your organization. As you know, the residency is a vital part of our MHA program in which students are given the opportunity to work closely with a healthcare leader and work on “real world” projects. Of course, the experience is invaluable to the students, but every year the feedback from preceptors is equally positive, with many preceptors willing to host students year after year.
So, if you aren’t already doing so, please consider hosting a resident this summer. Having an alumni preceptor who understands our program can enhance students’ experiences, but can also be the start of a very rewarding, long-lasting mentoring relationship for both parties. Click here to view an FAQ for more information about our residency program and next steps, the most important of which is letting us know ASAP if you are interested! Also, do not hesitate to reach out to me by phone (614-292-1428) or email (robbins.11@osu.edu) if you want to discuss this or other opportunities to get involved in the program.
Wishing you all the very best over the holidays.
Julie
